A screenshot of the first page of a Google Image search for ‘i heart.’ It occurs to me that Glaser’s I Love New York logo is largely responsible for the linguistic popularity of phrases and emoticons like “i heart you,” “i ♥ pancakes,” et cetera. I can’t think of too many logos that have had an impact on language as well as design.
